Network Engineer, CCNP

 

Our client is seeking a strong and experienced Network Engineer with 5+ years of experience in VOIP, SATCOM, planning and network design and detailed knowledge of Call Manager and VOIP concepts.  The engineer should have excellent understanding of TCP/IP and network protocols, with a solid background in deployable communications systems planning, architecture, design, network performance analysis and optimization. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

The Engineer will be responsible for planning, architecture, design of Network portion of CDMA / EVDO networks and Satellite communication systems. The candidate will be responsible for defining the Metrics specification for validating and benchmarking network performance, to include the development of user acceptance tests. The candidate will participate in defining and sourcing software tools for network planning and optimization, data collection, post-processing and performance monitoring. The candidate will also participate in investigating WAN for any engineering issues. The candidate will facilitate resolution of bandwidth issues with carriers. Develop documentation for new products. Support training for new products.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have 5+ years experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry with a specialization in Network engineering. 

 

Excellent communication, documentation skills, organization, troubleshooting and teamwork skills Mastery of Cisco routers, protocols, propagation tools, drive test and network statistic tools. The candidate will understand bandwidth management issues and resolutions. Excellent experience with Network Firewalls. Excellent experience with 802.11, 802.16. Excellent experience with Call Manager and VOIP communications. Experience with Land Mobile Radio (ACU-1000) is a plus. Experience with secure networks and DoD encryption a plus. Experience with VTC is a plus. Strong decision making skills that will make appropriate use of available information and data. Make independent sound decisions and possess the ability to take responsibility for specific projects or definable portions of larger projects or processes. Leadership skills: commitment to excellence, accepting responsibility for results, and making quality decisions. Flexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and adjust to a dynamic, changing technical and business environment. Secret Clearance or eligibility preferred.
