Calence is actively looking to fill a network engineer/architect position in the Network Strategy & Infrastructure consulting practice. The position will be staffed at a client site in a consulting role. Job responsibilities will vary based on the client engagement. Candidates should be able to readily adapt to varied client environments and industry sectors with responsibilities ranging from practice program development to deployment of technical network architectures.
JOB OBJECTIVE:
GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Previous consulting experience is preferred Ability to execute in a methodical manner to gather, document, and present specific customer requirements Effective experience in documentation to clearly articulate technical designs, issues/constraints, procedures, etc. Strong analytical and problem determination/resolution skills and experience Good presentation and communication skills regarding technical and non-technical concepts Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish professional working relationships with varying levels of both business and technical personnel Self-directed to complete tasks in both a professional and timely manner with minimal supervision Demonstrated history of delivery proven results 50% travel may be required for client supportTECHNICAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
General understanding of technical network design and implementation in enterprise and ecommerce environments Comprehension of networking concepts including network design principles, data flow determination, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, CDP, spanning-tree, IOS bug scrubs, etc. Solid understanding of network utility services including TFTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, SYSLOG, etc. Excellent understanding of the OSI model and the implications to design and implementation of networking solutions in addition to general trouble-shooting techniques Familiarity with network scanning/analysis procedures and toolsets for network readiness assessments Understanding of advanced networking technologies including MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, multicast, policy-based routing, ether-channel, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, etc. Prefer Cisco CCIE certification or proven equivalent skills Understanding of general network monitoring and maintenance tasks in a mixed vendor environment Demonstrated performance in a large-scale enterprise technical work environment or a minimum of 5 years direct industry experience as described above Experience with Cisco Aironet and Airespace Wireless Network experience is a plus Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is a plus Experience with general security technologies and solutions (ACLs, firewalls, IPS/IDS and route filters) is a plus Experience with performance management tools and services (OpNet, Compuware, NETMRI, WAAS, WCCP) is a plus Understanding of operating system fundamentals (UNIX, Linux, Windows, etc.) is a plus
EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or related field is required accompanied with technology designated certifications. A master's degree is a plus. Candidates should have a desire to gain technical skills through advanced certifications (MCSE/CCNP/CCIE) or other similar technical achievements.
