Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to work with the vendor community to secure the best quality and price on commodities which you are assigned, while increasing turns at the distribution centers and sales to the customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Negotiate with the vendor community for the best product at the best price on a daily basis through phone calls and email. This is also intended to build relationships. Process requisitions from turn buyers in a timely manner through the buying system. Provide tutelage to turn buyers regarding availability of product and market activity. Increase sales and profits by watching the rise and fall of markets and adjusting customers pricing accordingly. Negotiate contracts with incentive based programs with the vendor community. Provide market analyses to customers and turn buyers through daily and weekly updates by email. Provide a cost per commodity to all our customers. Review daily and weekly gross bill out per assigned commodity. Provide AD Lids and suggest AD opportunities to customer category managers. Effectively communicate with customers regarding pricing and supply issues in a professional manner.

Job Requirements:

Four (4) Year College Degree or Equivalent years in experience. 4 to 6 years in Produce environment. Product knowledge, knowledge of FOB transportation, knowledge of growing regions. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, Experience with Foodlink Online. Preferred, Strong communication and negotiation skills.
