Metallurgical Design Engineering Supervisor Job Requirements: In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs large and important metallurgical engineering projects or a number of small projects with many complex features. Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of metallurgical engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and plans and coordinates work. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of multidiscipline engineers and technicians, estimates personnel needs and schedules and assigns work to meet completion date or as individual researcher or staff specialist may be assisted on projects by other engineers or technicians. Demonstrated Supervisory Skills: planning, scheduling, budget development and maintenance Demonstrated communication skills: give clear direction, negotiation skills, ability to confront difficult and adverse situations; ability to communicate and interface with higher levels of management ELIGIBILITY FACTORS Bachelor's degree in metallurgical, materials, mechanical, or chemical engineering or other related engineering degrees from an ABET accredited curriculum, plus related continuing education. Licensed Professional Engineer and membership in professional and technical societies is desirable. Minimum 8-10 years' nuclear power plant experience preferred including experience in metallurgical engineering projects. Supervisory experience required.
