Consortium of five medical associations seeks Meetings Associate.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) is a non-profit consortium of five academically focused organizations representing departments of internal medicine at medical schools and teaching hospitals in the United States and Canada. AAIM consists of the Association of Professors of Medicine (APM), the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM), the Association of Specialty Professors (ASP), the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM), and the Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM). The alliance has more than 3,500 members across the United States and Canada.
AAIM has a 15-person staff that serves the needs of these organizations. The staff is organized around teams focused on public policy, educational programs, membership and communication, and governance and administration. The staff works extensively with volunteer leaders to implement projects and programs aligned with the goals and objectives of the alliance and the associations. Current AAIM projects include membership surveys, the development of a new medical textbook, publication of resource guides, and congressional advocacy.
The meetings associate will join the educational programs team responsible for managing eight national conferences and 10 small leadership meetings. Duties will include managing member calls for educational proposals; small meeting hotel logistics; application processes for external accreditation; interactions with exhibitors and sponsors; marketing and meeting material production; and committee activities.
The successful associate-level candidate will have 2+ years experience in meeting planning, strong skills in MS Office, excellent writing ability, and a knack for learning tasks quickly. Strong skills in editing, organization, and time management as well as the ability to work independently and on multiple projects are essential. Attention to detail is vital.
College degree required. Salary is $40,000 with excellent benefits, including 403(b) matching and paid health coverage.
