Senior Medical Editor
My client a Medical Communications agency in the local area is actively seeking a mid or senior level medical editor. Industry experience with medical publishing, CME or promotional projects experience is required. This position is responsible for the development of medical education programs content.
Example of Job Duties;
Develop Scientific for advisory boards, educational symposia, teleconferences, articles, monographs, slide kits, etc. A solid knowledge of AMA and other relevant styles is mandatory, as well as the ability to work within a fast-paced environment. You will work on a multitude of project types and varied therapeutic areas. Ability to interpret medical/scientific literature and apply knowledge to educational projects. Highly skilled in the use of medical terminology and medical research applications. Strong verbal and written skills with attention to detail a must. Use good judgment skills for the amount of rewriting involved. Thoroughly fact check information (data and text) as appropriate to the project. Ensure scientific rigor and accuracy as to references to figures, tables and other display elements to maintain appropriate medical messaging. Maintain editorial house style on each project, and copy consistency in pieces ensuring commonality of information. Experience using proofreader's marks, AMA style, ACCME standards and other styles as needed. Manage external freelance writers and editors. Travel to client and onsite programs as needed
Qualifications:
• 2-5+ years as an editor within a medical communications, medical education, medical publishing, pharmaceutical company
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as excellent people and project management skills.
• Experience in a variety of therapeutic areas, cardiovascular, oncology, rheumatology, diabetes, etc a plus.
