A nationally recognized leader of surgical instrumentation devices for the medical industry has an immediate need for a Senior/Staff Systems (Instruments) Engineer to join our Corporate R&D Group located in Austin, Texas. This position will lead project teams responsible for the design and development of electronic instruments related to our product lines and products for OEM customers, provide leadership for system design and platform typology and transfer new products to manufacturing and support the sustaining engineering activities required for existing products.

This person MUST have experience with actual electronic design experience.  Medical device experience is also a must!!

Responsibilities :

•           Function as team leader of electronic development projects..

•           Coordinate activities of team members to complete Design Control related deliverables.

•           Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits and support hardware used within instrument products.

•           Provide technical support to customer service department on instrument problems in the field.

•           Evaluate and recommend new materials, cables, connectors, switches, and other electronic and electro-mechanical components that can be used in our products for new designs and cost reduction.

•           Supervise and perform test validations, burn-in tests, and troubleshooting tests for design verification and validation. Coordinate activities of technicians to complete Design Control deliverables.

•           Provide continuous engineering support on assigned products to maintain and improve margin, performance and quality.

•           Work with Process Development and Manufacturing groups to deliver acceptable documentation on new products (including but not limited to: Assembly and test fixtures, New BOM structures, SOP, Routers, MPI, Test methods,

•           Drawings and Specs including schematics) in a timely manner. Must be familiar with documentation system under ISO teams.

•           Coordinate and support electrical safety (IEC/UL60601-1) and EMC (IEC60601-1-2) certification testing.

 

Qualifications:

•           B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering

•           6+ years of electronic design experience for medical devices.

•           Experience with RF generators for electrosurgery preferred.

•           Thorough understanding of FDA and MDD design control requirements for electronic and software controlled devices.

•           Knowledge of IEC/UL 60601-1; knowledge of IEC 60601-2-2 preferred.

•           Able to work with people at all levels of the organization..
