Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer - Analysis will be responsible for providing structural and thermal analysis for electromechanical actuation control systems for manned and unmanned aircraft, missiles, rockets, and high-g munitions using the MSC (Nastran, Patran) toolset. The candidate should have good background in analytical and numerical methods with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and be expected to define engineering development and qualification test procedures, interpret test results, and correlate numerical models to test data from the company's environmental test facilities and generate Design Analysis Reports (DAR). More specific responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following: ' Utilize the MSC toolset (NASTRAN, PATRAN) or ANSYS to perform structural, dynamic and thermal analysis. ' Provide system static stiffness calculations including calculating component spring rates. ' Material analysis to include material selection, treatments and finishes based on requirements. ' Validation of all analysis and assist in developing test plans. ' Work closely with bearing manufacturers, ball screw manufacturers and other suppliers as necessary. ' Interface and work with team members across all disciplines and levels within the organization ' purchasing, engineering, test technicians, etc. ' Work on multiple projects with the flexibility to changes in priorities as required. ' Travel when required. Individuals should be characterized by a desire to be a contributing member of an accomplished engineering group but will be talented as an individual contributor. Individuals should be further characterized by a true engineering curiosity, a bias for action and possess a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Additional characteristics should include but not be limited to the following: ' Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ' Capable of functioning comfortably and effectively within a team. ' Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects and or to effectively change direction based upon business needs. ' Professional in appearance and demeanor. The ideal candidate will have experience with actuation systems composed of structures, electric motors, various gear trains, and other complex precision mechanical components. The ideal candidate will also have experience performing analysis of mechanical and electronic components in extremely severe environments. The Mechanical Engineer will possess a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of five or more years related mechanical analysis experience. Minimum qualifications for this position include: ' 5 years analysis experience using advanced FEA software tools for hi-g aerospace applications, with the ability to perform manual order-of-magnitude calculations. ' Knowledge of aerospace materials including aluminum alloys, steel and stainless steel alloys, bronzes and composites. Knowledge of heat-treatments, coatings and finishes including anodizing, chromate coatings, passivation and nitriding. ' Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. ' US Citizenship, permanent resident status, or designated asylum status. ' Ability to travel when necessary. Preferred qualifications for this position include: ' Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering ' Experience with MSC (Nastran, Patran), ANSYS or similar toolset for linear and non-linear models for static, quasi-static and transient stress analysis, and modal analysis. ' Use of the Mark non-linear solver for body-to-body contact. ' Familiarity with mechanical actuation components including structures, motors, bearings, gear trains, and complex mechanical components. ' Previous successful experience performing cyclic loading calculations. ' Experience with material heat treatment. RESPOND HERE!
