Design mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products. Generate complete documentation packages (BOMs, drawings, solid models, graphic artwork, and diagrams). Select and specify components that meet our quality and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Designs mechanical, opto-mechanical, and flow control components and/or systems.
· Creates concept models for new sensors or instrument systems.
· Plans and directs fabrication of new parts utilizing both internal and external resources.
· Researches specifications, components, materials, fasteners, and part numbers as required from precedents, manufacturers' catalogs, guidelines and other sources of technical data.
· Evaluates existing systems and recommends design modifications to improve performance, reduce cost or eliminate malfunctions.
· Incorporates redlines from drawings, parts lists, and procedures using engineering change orders (ECO's).
· Sustains existing products
· Bill Of Material entry and ECO initiation and processing
Relationships
Position reports to the Mechanical Design Group Leader.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Background and Skill
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Individual must be proficient and skilled in the use of 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks). Familiarity with graphic design software such as CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator, and AutoCad is also desired. Individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Word Processing software; and MS Office Products.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Individual should have general knowledge and experience with Document Control procedures and methods. Must have the ability to follow through to completion on varying timelines and priorities.
Compensation: Pay is determined according to relevant experience.
