***Our Louisiana client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for their Harahan office. There company has been successfully doing business since the 1920s!!

jOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the accurate development of material take offs from prints and specifications as supplied by the customer, contractor, architect, etc.Responsible for the accurate development of labor cost take offs necessary for performing the installation of materials, equipment use and other labor functions as put forward in the plans and specifications as supplied by the customer.Responsible for determining that phases or parts of the project will be sub-contracted to others, securing quotes and verifying the reasonable competitiveness of such quotes.Responsible for determining what methods and processes will be used to conform to the takes offs.Responsible for updating the prices used for both labor and material.Responsible for the accurate consolidation of all data from the take off sheets to the job estimate summary.Review the quantity, prices, and estimated labor needed for accuracy.Responsible for the development of cost estimates.Attend any pre-bid conferences as directed.Employee should have the capacity to develop, implement and follow through with repair/fabrication jobs as required.Employee will be required to develop, test and implement various weld procedure requirements.Employee will be required to reverse engineer parts as required by customers. This will involve producing accurate engineering drawings from shop sketches, paying close attention to sizes and tolerances.Employee will be required to assist others in providing necessary engineering calculations required to accomplish repairs and fabrication. This will involve calculations including torsional/moment loading and static/dynamic shrink fits.Assist in machining operations by developing and implementing a program. Work with operators in maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of this program.Any other related, unrelated, unassigned, unspecified, unusual, or special duties that may assign from time to time.Perform any and all other duties not covered by this standard procedure, but are necessary to ensure maximum stability, growth, and profitability of the company as directed.Demonstrates good judgment and reasoning in investigating and solving problems.Demonstrates good judgment in respecting the confidentiality of customers, company, and personnel information.



Specific skills/experience that the candidate must have are as follows:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum of two years in the industryMust be able to cope with workload pressuresMust have an understanding and knowledge of reading blueprints, etc. Must understand and be able to run computer spreadsheets. Must be capable of working under stress, meeting tight deadlines and capable of multi-tasking. Must have experience in AutoCAD drafting. Should have general knowledge of welding. Should be strong in Engineering Mechanics.
