DRS Technical Services Inc - Air Force Operations Division is seeking a dynamic individual as a Mechanical Designer.  This individual will provide Mechanical Design Support at Tinker AFB, OK.  This individual will work with the Air Force and required resources to achieve project objectives to include SOW requirements.

 

Position Summary

Individual will provide mechanical design support for an Air Force maintenance complex. This individual will provide mechanical design support with regard to complex mechanical and/or hydraulic systems as well as the design, development, and upgrade and support of hydraulic and/or mechanical systems. Technical skills in all phases of hardware design, development and documentation, performing  fundamental engineering duties and assists government engineers and managers in formulating preliminary designs, performing tests, taking measurements and performing system analyses or simulations.  Must have experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment and have experience in troubleshooting mechanical or hydraulic systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

This individual will support complex mechanical and/or hydraulic systems as well as the design, development, and upgrade and support of hydraulic and/or mechanical systems.  Will provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex design problems; perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation and analysis; plan and conduct engineering feasability studies for the design, improvement, modifications and implementation of advanced technologies; interface with government personell; and work closely with program management and other engineers in a concurrent engineering environment. Provide guidance or directions to lower level technical personnel.

 

Basic Qualifications

5-10 years of the following design experience:

   - Ability to design from hand sketch or engineering directive.

   - Ability to design using solid model (Not 3D Isometric).

   - Understanding of ANSI Y14 dimension requirements.

   - Understanding of sheet metal layout and design.

   - Understanding of metal machining and welding processes.

   - Understanding of Heat Treat and material coating processes.

   - Understanding of Document Configuration Management process.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

Desired Skills but not necessary:

   - Understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

   - Understanding of Hydraulic Circuit layout and P&ID symbols.

   - Understanding of Electrical Schematic layout and design.

   - Test fixture design experience.
