They have retained our services to seek out highly qualified candidates for this very visible position. The incumbent will be charged with providing both strategic and tactical leadership of the Materials/Purchasing function in the local Buffalo area facility as well as a facility elsewhere. In addition he/she will be charged with development and implementation of Materials Management strategies for both facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Direct management responsibility for Procurement, Planning, Scheduling and Materials Handling functions for a $50+ million business unit Drive cost reduction by guiding the Procurement team in the development and implementation of suppliers in Low Cost Region (LCR) countries Drive improvements in on-time delivery and reduction of inventory through the implementation of world-class materials management processes Manage implementation of KanBan system on all component parts Use Toyota Production System (TPS) tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvements in on-time delivery performance, cost savings, inventory reduction and Low Cost Region spend

Education & Training

BS degree required. Major in Materials Management or other Business major preferred. Advanced business degree a definite plus. 7 to 10 years overall business experience with at least 5 years in Supply Chain Management, purchasing or planning roles. Continuing education in the Materials/Supply Chain field to ensure knowledge and understanding of leading edge practices and technology. CPIM, CIRM, CSCP or CPM certification preferred. Demonstrated experience in driving cost reduction through transition to LCR regions

Effective planning, leadership and organizational skills Superior LCR supplier management skills Effective procurement skills - management experience in procurement Outstanding problem-solving skills Excellent written & verbal communication skills Strong analytical background - experienced with Excel and Access
