Materials Manager – Supply Chain:

 

Our campus is located in a forest setting in the sierra foothill town of Nevada City. There are unlimited recreational possibilities and a vibrant theatre, art and music scene. We have a hiking trail around our campus and a number of restaurants and unique shops available during lunch or after work. Locals also enjoy Nevada County’s mountain biking, camping, fishing, boating, and winter sports activities – contributing factors to a higher quality of life.  Our campus is approximately 60 miles from Sacramento on Hwy 80 and stands at the gateway to Tahoe National Forest on State Route 49. It just might be the best of all possible worlds.

 

Currently we are looking for a Materials Manager:

 

The materials manager reports to the director of operations and leads a team of 10 buyers responsible for driving the supply chain in order to meet customer orders/revenue expectations. Ensures and facilitates material supply to the plant and other manufacturing facilities; coordinates communications, pricing and production requirements between plants and suppliers, initiates and maintain VMI programs, implement supplier and external warehouse stocking programs, and recommend and execute risk mitigation plans for single and sole sourced materials and suppliers. Solves supply/supplier issues; first point of escalation for contract manufacturers and internal customers to assist in managing and resolving supplier quality, supply and service issues; assist and coordinate critical material expedites.

Other responsibilities include:

• Successful integration of direct order fulfillment into the supply chain

• Forecasting to the supply chain

• Drive inventory reduction utilizing lean principles

• E&O mitigation

• Responsible for material management process documentation to comply with ISO9000/2000

• Efficient transition of new products into the supply chain

• Key performance indicators: Productivity, Inventory, Turn-Around-Time, On-time Delivery, Product Lead Time

• Some travel required (10%)

 

Requirements:

 

BA/BS plus 8-10 years experience, MBA preferred

Lean experience required, SAP experience preferred

Detailed understanding of NPI processes, operations, direct order fulfillment, and contract manufacturing.

Line management subject matter expert as a Materials Manager in a multi-plant environment (5 years)

Excellent communication skills with business partners in all levels of the organization in a cross cultural environment

Team player and ability to motivate people through collaborative skills, results driven
