Job
AMEC is seeking an experienced professional to provide technical leadership to our construction materials consulting and testing business in the Salt Lake City area. The leadership will include a focus on technical QA/QC activities for projects involving soils, concrete and asphalt testing, managing projects and expansion of our materials engineering business.

Responsibilities
The Senior Materials Engineer will be responsible for overall quality management of materials testing and materials engineering projects and will include the following activities:
Project Management of projects related to the materials practice to deliver planned scope, schedule and fee
Provide direction to ensure appropriate standard of care on materials engineering and testing work to deliver quality
Oversee quality systems for AMRL and CCRL accreditation
Develop and grow local materials engineering business working in conjunction with other offices and AMEC’s regional materials engineering initiatives and team
Oversee collection and compilation of field and/or laboratory data in accordance with local standard of practice
Staff supervision and mentoring
Technical report writing
Provide senior technical quality development, delivery and review

Credentials/Skills/Experience
Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
Degree in civil engineering or related field (Masters preferred)
Registered engineer in Utah
Experience with transportation and other heavy civil construction projects
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Project management experience including proposals, contracts, staffing, labor and cost controls, invoicing and collections
Mixture design experience of concrete and asphalt
Pavement design experience
Technical knowledge of soil mechanics and laboratory soils testing
Experience with sales and business development
Working knowledge and experience in geotechnical engineering
