Job Title: Material Controls Manager
Reports To: Director, Operations
Job Description:
Hands-on manager working with a small group to develop proper inventory management systems.Schedule and purchase items to meet production needsIncrease cost efficiencies and to improve quality and vendor relationships.Manage and mentor Purchasing, Stockroom and Shipping/Receiving personnel.Help deploy and develop the “MS Great Plains Manufacturing” ERP software for Purchasing, Production and Inventory management.Manage inventory levels and accuracy.Work closely with corporate Accounting to validate inventory and to keep accurate.Set procedures for transacting inventory.Develop sound working relationships with vendors.Work with Engineering to develop BOMs on standard products.Assist Engineering with procurement issues on new and/or current projects.Meet financial objectives by preparing budgets, cash management, value from vendors, analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
Essential Skills:
Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Finance and Accounting or equivalent work experience.At least 10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment involving Purchasing, Shipping/Receiving and Inventory ManagementSolid working knowledge of MRP and JITStrong vendor research and negotiations skills.Technical background in mechanical and electro-mechanical applications.Excellent oral & written communication skills are required.Experience with more than one MRP software environment.
Non-Essential Skills:
Startup experience and experience with MS Great Plains is a real plus.APICS and/or NAPM membership preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Project, Excel & PowerPoint
