The incumbent will have key relationships with OEM’s, Sector Heads, Business Development Managers, Regional sales teams, Key Account Managers, the Regional Technical Center, the Regional & Worldwide Manufacturing sites for the respective products, Private label suppliers and Product Marketing counterparts both in the USA and in other Regions.

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and identifying market/product opportunities and associated requirements for all the Americas. Additional responsibilities include engaging in direct market contact through visits to customers and distributors, the incumbent is charged with determining the requirements of the market while monitoring the competition to identify current and anticipated market activities that may impact new and existing products and markets.

While responsible for the Americas, the incumbent will often interface with peers in the global organization to strategize and coordinate product development and launch activities for the company as a whole. They are responsible for validation and research of new product ideas (for new platform & Mega OEM products), writing a specification, organizing market research and preparing a Product Opportunity Brief.

Working with the Product Marketing Directors, Global Marketing Directors, and New Product Team, the incumbent will be responsible for prioritizing and coordinating product development activities. Working closely with sales channels, the incumbent is entrusted to identify and provide product attributes that will result in customer satisfaction, including, but not limited to, areas of price, performance, quality, delivery, reliability, safety, aesthetics and environmental compatibility. The incumbent will also coordinate closely with peers in other key regions to ensure products meet world and not just local requirements.

The incumbent will also work closely with members of Engineering and Manufacturing in an effort to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and meet performance and cost goals. Working in tandem with the Design and Manufacturing groups, the incumbent will effect the development and introduction of the product worldwide where the product is developed in the USA and in the Americas where the product is developed elsewhere. Also the incumbent has an active involvement in planning the new product process from concept through full life cycle to obsolescence. Within 12 months of a new product being launched the incumbent should transfer day-to-day responsibility to the Business Development Managers. After new product introductions are made, the incumbent is charged with monitoring sales performance to ensure actual results meet plan.

Adjunct responsibilities include training of distributor and field sales forces; literature and advertising support, theme development, and trade show representation. As this position covers the Americas, extensive travel is required. This position may also be called upon for recommendations and involvement of corporate partnerships or acquisitions and new manufacturing facilities development.

1. Maintain & improve the product portfolio / service strategy.
2. Profitably grow market share of a product versus plan.
3. Initiate, maintain and deliver product launch schedules through coordination with marketing, design engineering, manufacturing, and sales.
4. Contribute to the profitability of the company by prioritizing and implementing Product Opportunity Briefs in a timely manner.
5. Monitor and report competitor activities including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, products, service strategies, and pricing.
6. Identify new opportunities and discover potential weaknesses for current and future market and product emphasis through trend analysis of external product and the market place.
7. Initiate, maintain and deliver product rationalization and obsolescence schedules.
8. Assist in the developing literature and updating promotional literature & technical databases.
9. Monitor external product and market place trends to identify new opportunities and discover potential weaknesses for current and future market and product emphasis.
10. Assist the Director – Product Management in the development of comprehensive product and market plans, ensuring effective implementation by continued monitoring of progress of original plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2. The incumbent must have the ability to translate intuition, market feelings and conceptual technologies into successful, winning new products.
3. The incumbent must possess an ability to lead and inspire others to uncover new applications, requirements and solutions. Moreover, the incumbent must be able to manage projects and people.
4. Previous sales, engineering and/or marketing experience, and a relevant Bachelors degree is required.
5. Product knowledge is preferred.
6. Excellent written & verbal communication skills are needed. Strong PC skills are required, especially in using Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint & Word.
