MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING MANAGER
Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager has the authority and responsibility to direct, coordinate and facilitate all aspects of engineering and tooling. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, New Launches, APQP, engineering changes, enforcing and maintaining TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements, continuous improvement, cost saving activities, preventive tooling maintenance and the safety of all Team Members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in the selection, development, training and discipline of Engineers and Skilled Team Members in the engineering and tooling function.
- Performs performance appraisals making recommendations on promotions or other changes in status of the Engineers and Skilled Team Members in the engineering and tooling function.
- Support and follow programs including attending meetings & coordinating with Corporate Engineers, visits to design sources, visits to tool / gauge build shops to verify & check on progress and compliance to design and MPG standards.
- Coordinate the introduction of new tooling in the plant. Interface with the production areas for the first run try-out in the plant.
- Coordinate die adjustments in presses, participate in Tool and Die problem solving, and support the production areas.
- Provide engineering expertise, direction and assistance as required or requested to the Tool Room in resolving tooling and related problems.
- Interacts with Customers, Corporate and Plant personnel to resolve safety, quality and through-put concerns.
Requirements
10 years in the automotive stamping/welding industry in a managerial capacity. Strong tooling background preferred along with a 4 year engineering degree. Excellent communication and team building skills require.
