JOB TITLE:      MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

BASIC FUNCTION:  Responsible for collaborating in the development of new products, developing manufacturing processes and equipment, and for providing ongoing process support to ensure manufacturing goals are achieved.

JOB DUTIES:

         Represent manufacturing in new product design and development. Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing on significant product changes.

         Perform projects and design/execute experiments aimed at improving quality, throughput, and cost.

         Write validation plans and oversee process validations; ensure all processes are robust and validated prior to production.

         Assist with selection and qualification of new materials and suppliers.

         Create experimental protocols and reports, equipment specifications, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation as needed.

         Prepare manufacturing cost estimates and capital appropriation requests to acquire tooling and equipment.

         Develop and sustain thorough product and process documentation.

         Provide technical support and guidance to Sensor Production.

COMPETENCIES: Project Management, communication, leadership, technical writing, and decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Other Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent education and experience. 1-10 years of related experience, preferably in a medical device assembly environment. Experience using CAD system(s), preferably SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD. Familiarity with statistics, experimental design, Six Sigma tools, and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
