SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Advise senior management and production facilities of their responsibilities under federal, state and local law relating to environmental matters associated with water quality and solid waste including beneficial use.  Assist with the ongoing development and implementation of environmental policy.  Manage water quality programs to support mills’ compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.  Coordinate environmental regulatory activities and efforts.  Provide representation with appropriate legislative, industry and environmental lobbying bodies.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

·          Environmental regulatory support efforts to assist mills with environmental compliance efforts in the areas of water and solid waste.

·          Provide technical support for the resolution of environmental noncompliance and enforcement actions with mills and legal staff.

·          Procurement of required water quality and solid waste environmental permits and approvals to support the business.

·          Complete environmental regulatory reviews showing potential impacts to business operations. Work with mills to develop cost effective compliance plans.  Conduct training sessions as needed.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

·          Bachelors Degree in environmental sciences or related areas such as biology, chemistry, etc.

·          Plus 12 years of progressive growth as an environmental practitioner including project engineering and management, analysis and interpretation of environmental law, strategic planning and policy development, and environmental affairs management experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

·          Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills along with proficiency with mobile computing. 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Up to 40%
