Position Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager of Risk Management Reporting and Analysis is responsible for the accounting, analysis and reconciliation of self insured and other risk management related account activity for both on-shore and off-shore company subsidiaries. This position requires risk management specific experience and understanding of the Company’s historical and current risk management program, insurance policies, business process and company specific policies and procedures. In addition to accounting related support, this position provides high level analysis and advisory support to the Vice President of Risk Management in the areas of analysis, budgeting and planning. This position will have direct contact with specialists, including actuaries, outside advisors, brokers and auditors. This position is also responsible for identifying, designing and implementing business process improvements in an effort to continually enhance the internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of the overall risk management accounting / business process. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1) Become a subject matter expert on the entire risk management cycle / process, including: a) Policy structures (historic and current) b) Claims processing and data capture c) Claims management and reserve establishment d) Claims settlement e) Carrier and TPA invoicing, authorization, coding and processing f) Actuarial reporting g) Involvement of Bermuda based management company h) Company general ledger accounting, reporting and disclosure requirements. 2) Optimize and ensure the design effectiveness of the risk management business process. 3) Coordinate consolidated financial audit and internal control testing requests. 4) Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations between TPA, actuarial data, Bermuda based captive GL and Company consolidated GL. 5) Collaborate directly with actuary in the provision of periodic information needs and requests. 6) Collaborate directly with Bermuda based captive management company on accounting, reconciliation and reporting issues. 7) Master use of TPA claims management systems in order to support reporting and analysis needs of VP of Risk Management. 8) Develop: a) Exception reports b) Trend reports c) Monitoring reports 9) Assist in the development and execution of an approved approach to reporting claim activities at a facility level in an effort to influence operational behaviors. 10) Provide decision support to VP of Risk Management in annual budgeting and coverage renewal process; along with day to day decision support on an as needed basis. 11) Stay “up-to-date / educated” regarding significant trends and developments in the area risk management accounting and reporting matters. Communicate such knowledge to executive management to assist in the formulation of strategic decisions. 12) Design and conduct, or provide, training seminars to ensure staff have a comprehensive and current understanding of risk management business process. 13) Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or MBA a plus. 2. Experience with self insured and other insurance products, along with the associated accounting is required. 3. Advanced analytical skills required JOB SKILLS: 1. Ability to effectively manage and motivate personnel 2. Ability to identify problems and recommend appropriate actions for expeditious results 3. Must have strong mathematical, financial and analytical abilities 4. Requires ability to effectively interact and communicate with employees, visitors, outside consultants, government agencies and officers of the company 5. Must have strong organizational skills PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES: 1. He/she carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/ participation may be required, or as requested by appropriate divisional management.
