Description: The Process Safety Manager is primarily responsible for providing process safety technical support to laboratory, kilo lab and pilot plant scale operations within PGRD facilities served by Global Operations US East Region. This person will be a member of the Science Safety Team within the Environmental Health & Safety Department and a valued contributor to the sites EHS Policy to continuously improve our EHS management system and performance. Key job duties include the following
-Develop, implement and maintain the sites process safety program.
-Liase with internal customers/stakeholders.
-Develop and deliver training on process safety and other science safety topics.
-Conduct incident investigations to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
-Provide support to scientific lines on the implementation of Pfizer EHS Guidelines, site polices and procedures and compliance with applicable regulations.
-Develop and maintain safety management systems, including policies and procedures, that enhance the safety programs within the scientific lines.
-Participate in intenal audits and host regulatory inspections.
-Develop metrics to measure performance and goals to achieve continuous improvement in safety performance and compliance.
-Verify implementation of key controls and report performance. Qualifications: -Minimum of 7 years experience as a process safety specialist, preferably supporting lab scale and pilot plant operations.
-Detail knowledge of chemistry and chemical safety required as well as some knowledge of other science safety disciplines such as radiation safety, industrial hygiene and biosafety
Technical competencies :
-Expert knowledge of process safety regulations and working knowledge of regulations governing other science safety focus areas.
-Able to effectively identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement controls.
-Can lead an audit team, generate action plans and track issues to closure.
-Able to develop and oversee multiple elements of the site's EHS management system.
