Plans, schedules, and directs labor force for the manufacturing, rebuilding, and distribution activities associated with the supply of replacement materials for the domestic and international Power Generation markets.

Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

1.            Evaluate customer parts requirements and provide necessary manufacturing, rebuilding and/or shipment of the finished product.  Responsible for initiating shop order travelers and plans work accordingly.   Provide Q.A. support to meet Service Center and customer requirements.

2.            Manages Cost Center budget as required to align expenses with production requirements to ensure absorption targets achieved.   This includes:

Ø       Determine permanent staffing levels and securing temporary employees as required to process customer jobs on schedule.  

Ø       Review supplier invoices and sign company checks to pay.  Control and disperse funds from petty cash fund.  Submit regular Service Center expense reports.

Ø       Initiate or cosign capital equipment requests and all local purchase orders that are issued to support the Service Center operating needs.

3.         Provide customer and home office interface for Service Center functions.   Participate in the review and decision making process related to business strategies that may impact overall Service Center Operations 

 

           4.            Evaluate processes, implement productivity improvements, and develop cost savings that can be established as best practices and assist in implementing across all Service Centers to achieve lowest cost of supply.  Understand and implement lean manufacturing concepts as appropriate.

5.         Initiate and track shop and vendor non-conformances.   Determine corrective actions required to reduce NCR’s

 

            6.         Provide regular employee safety training and inspections.  Assure proper PPE equipment in accordance with JSA’s is being utilized.   Manage activities necessary to fulfill facility environmental compliance, state and local codes & laws, and DOL compliance paperwork.

 

             7.            Responsible for all Service Center regular employees' records, reviews, disciplinary

actions, and hiring.

8.            Quarterly update and report on status of Business Plan initiatives and support various regional Customer initiatives to assist in the development of new business.

 

COMPLEXITY OF TASKS:

Uses computer systems to perform management functions.  May be called upon to review product detail and assembly drawings.  Will be asked to solves a variety of complex problems with creativity.  Primary contacts include peer group, personnel within own department, personnel in other departments, and suppliers requiring excellent communication skills.  Frequent customer interface is required that can lead to moderate travel expectations.  Possesses expert knowledge of concepts and processes within area of responsibilities.  Performs tasks with a minimum level of supervision and tasks are frequently self-initiated.  Management review is based on total results.

 

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or related field plus 6 years of professional experience, or a special combination of educational and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.  Advanced entrepreneurial skills and manufacturing process work experience.  Financial management skills required.  Experience in managing or supervising in a manufacturing, Distribution, or construction labor force preferred.
