About the Opportunity
This Manager position, located in the Central New Jersey area is responsible for managing and integrating the customer operation center's activities from the initial request for service design and construction as well as the maintenance and repair of the transmission and/or distribution system to provide reliable service.

* Understands and participates in business initiatives and contributes to the overall performance of the operating company.
* Directs and develops staff responsible for work associated with T&D overhead and URD line construction, operations and maintenance.
* Manages employees' performance to achieve established objectives.
* Manages operations from initial request for service through design to construction.
* Compiles and assesses data to track progress of work.
* Works with directors, other managers, and supervisors and engages employees to establish and achieve scheduled milestones and appropriate benchmarking measures for safety, reliability, customer service, financial performance and compliance.
* Responds to customer complaints and formal regulatory authority inquiries.
* Oversees preparation and subsequent control of area budget that addresses personnel, material, equipment, line construction, operation and maintenance.
* Ensures effective employee/contractor labor mix.
* Ability to develop effective working relationship with union local.
* Constantly monitors employee satisfaction and manages performance and development, ensuring appraisals and development plans are aligned with Critical Success Factors, are timely and compensation is in line with objectives of initiatives.
* Interprets labor agreements thoroughly, understands and applies labor agreements, human resources policies, and other company regulations fairly and equitably for all employees
* Ensures adherence to the FE Preferred Practices, Manual of Operations, Construction Standards and the Accident Prevention Handbook.
* Manages the emergency outage restoration process and provides assistance to other areas when needed.

Qualifications

Required

Highly motivated, enthusiastic leader who functions well independently and is capable of communicating, motivating, and driving positive workforce change and process improvement.

Must possess a demonstrated focus on the customer.

Must possess advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt the communication style to audience.

An active thinker and team player who positively challenges those around him/her and is mentally flexible and cooperative.

Possess or is able to acquire extensive knowledge of Transmission and Distribution electrical systems, processes and standards.

Experience in emergency restoration.

Ability to make accurate decisions and demonstrates sound judgment.

Preferred

An undergraduate degree or equivalent of technical nature and/or equivalent work experience.

A working knowledge of electrical engineering practices, substation, communications, metering, relay and other electrical equipment.

Understanding of system and distribution dispatching operations.

Knowledge of information systems such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, CREWS, SAP, PowerOn Remote, and SDSC.

Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.

Willing to relocate to other FirstEnergy operating companies to continuously improve and achieve competence to be considered for other management positions.
