Manager of Enterprise Architecture  
Location: Baltimore, MD
Type: Full Time Perm Placement
Salary: 90k to 113k 
 
Our client - a premier Baltimore employer - is in need of a Manager of Enterprise Architecture.  This person will report to the Director of Enterprise Architecture.

The Manager will manage a team of approximately 25 Enterprise Architects.  The Manager will manage and build the team, as well as mentor and develop the individual team members, serve as the go-to person for Architecture decisions, and set  milestones.

**Manages the architecture technology development by maintaining an SME in-depth up-to-date knowledge of standards, guidelines, industry trends, etc., across multiple architectural/infrastructure specialties.
**Ensures alignment between key IT growth/development initiatives, business drivers and the applied IT architecture.
**Maintains a cross-functional perspective to manage and integrate IT processes such as the discovery process, the integration process, and the governance process, engagement & delivery process, etc.
**Develops and maintains the enterprise-wide infrastructure target state for the infrastructure architecture.
**Researches, evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting business and I.S. strategic needs. Leads efforts to catalog and share research results related to current vs. future architecture states.
**May serve as member of governance/standards board that recommends, validates, and maintains the approved company architectural standards.
**Ensures common application architectural frame work and patterns across the enterprise.
**Develops and executes an enterprise-wide communication plan for new company standards, stated directions, guidelines, processes, etc., as required. 
**Manages and provides leadership for the development and implementation of integrated business and technology solutions/applications for clients.
**Consults with key customers across multiple projects regarding the usage and application of architectural/infrastructure standards.
**Determines whether a variance from standards should be approved, recommended for approval, or rejected. Enforces and reports all variances as needed.
**Assumes a leadership role in ensuring that new and existing applications abide by current architectural standards.
**Oversees the audits of proposed infrastructure designs to ensure adherence to current architectural standards.
**Oversees the design and delivery of proof-of-concept for new or improved enterprise-wide infrastructure technologies that are used across multiple areas of the business.
**Reviews IT business cases and initiatives to identify, assess, and communicate infrastructure costs and issues.
**Prepares business cases for proposed infrastructure initiatives as needed. Responsible for stewardship/management of approved architecture infrastructure initiatives.
**Responsible for developing, monitoring, and meeting the investment and G&A budgets for the specific department/platform.
**Manages, recruits, interviews, hires, motivates, rewards, recognizes and retains a diverse group of talented individuals based on platform goals and objectives.   Manages performance, and ensures staff development for direct reports. 
**Identifies the people requirements needed to meet architecture goals.  Selects, and/or participates in the selection of, vendors who provide a variety of IT services and products.  Manages and leverages relationships with vendors for a service (best price, best product, etc.) as needed. 
**Builds strong relationships between teams within IT and between IT and related business teams.  Maintains professional relationships with peers in other corporations and outside organizations.  Supports the succession planning process within their organization.  Keep abreast of current technology through research and self-training.

Requirements:
This position requires a background as an Enterprise Architect.  Healthcare experience is a plus.  Knowledge of/experience with the following technical areas is a plus:  Java/J2EE, JMS, XML, Datawarehousing, Informatica, Tibco, WebLogic/Websphere, UML, Web Services.

**Related College Degree and minimum of 10 years of experience, OR total equivalent experience,  designing Information Technology based solutions across multiple architecture/infrastructure environments.
**Knowledge, experience and demonstrated understanding of multi-platform architectures and systems integration concepts across Intel, Unix, mainframe and midrange servers.
**Awareness of new architectural technologies and how they could be leveraged to benefit the company, new business strategies and initiatives.
**Background and working knowledge with complex systems problems' resolution and tuning.

Preferred: MS in Computer Science and health insurance systems/platforms background
