As Helio’s Manager of Device Quality and Engineering, you will lead a multi-site team in quality and testing initiatives to ensure Helio’s devices deliver the unparalleled innovation and member experience we promise. The Technology Engineering team you’ll manage has successfully engineered a number of Helio industry firsts in the mobile marketplace. You will lead your team in planning, coordinating and instituting software testing & quality best practices to accommodate end-to-end platform applications delivery methodologies that extend our established innovation lead.
Your team will work closely across all aspects of the organization with multiple groups engaged in the production efforts of envisioning, developing and releasing platform software systems. This includes a uniquely talented team of architects, operations specialists, developers and product managers. Your team will ensure software releases meet quality specifications for expected features, functionality, load, performance, and service levels by implementing formal software test plans and systems requirements. This is a new and exciting initiative with direct impact on Helio’s business success and a high degree of executive visibility.

You should be strongly analytical, an effective problem solver, and flexible enough to handle multiple, high priority and often changing work assignments. As a manager, you must understand the importance of teamwork, collaboration and global communication, and how to maximize each of those to deliver results.
Light travel is a required.
Additional experience and skills requirements:
* BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline or knowledge and experience.
* 10+ years of R&D work, product development, project and quality engineering and testing management
* Experience managing technology and engineering work schedules – both local and offshore
* Experience working with mobile devices & services and applications is a must have
* Experience working with web/web2.0 services and applications is also a must have
* Ability to think strategically, drive technical vision, mentor and motivate team members, while giving the needed technical advice and direction
* Ability to work at a tactical level and provide hands-on management
* Industry experience in testing large scale enterprise products and using automated test tools is highly DESIRED
* Experience testing web based and mobile applications running on WIPI, Embedded Linux, Windows Mobile, J2ME, Palm, RDBMS (and others)
* Demonstrated expertise in open source test/scripting environments - python, JMeter, grinder, jython, sellenium
* Proven track record of on-time delivery over multiple complete product cycles
* Development process expertise using agile and SCRUM and/or RUP based methodologies a plus
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
