Manager – General Accounting

Aviation company in lower Fairfield County is looking to add a highly effective Accounting Manager – General Accounting to its Corporate Accounting team.

Summary: This person will lead the general accounting team (three staff members) in the performance of their duties covering multiple locations worldwide (US, Ireland and Singapore). Duties managed by this individual include cash receipts, accounts payable, fixed assets, investments and debt accounting. This person will also assist the Assistant Controller – General Accounting on special projects, liaise with the Tax Department and interface with external and internal auditors in their reviews.

The successful candidate will have at least six years experience in these areas of responsibility, be proficient in all aspects of general accounting, be thoroughly conversant with the consolidation process, have extreme attention to detail, the ability to exercise excellent judgment and the ability to achieve results in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/financial systems is required. Experience with Lawson would be a plus.

Requirements: At least six years related experience is required. Undergraduate degree in accounting is also required. Experience should be in a corporate office environment and some public accounting would be a plus.

Skills Required: Journal entry preparation and review Account analysis and reconciliation Supervision of accounts payable function Experience with fixed asset accounting Staff management and mentoring skills Bright, quick learner, motivated Strong understanding of investment (debt securities) accounting Familiarity with GAAP and internal control/Sarbanes Oxley Flexibility, self-confidence and ability to work in a dynamic environment Willing to “roll up sleeves” Strong written and oral communication skills Positive initiative with ability to drive projects forward and meet deadlines Presence and poise to work with senior management on a regular basis

Salary commensurate with experience, bonus eligible.
