About the Opportunity
Manage the Regional Distribution System Operations group for the safe, economical and efficient operation of the transmission and distribution system and provide service to the customer at the proper frequency and voltage. Enforce strict adherence to safety and tagging rules in all dispatching operations. Coordinate operations with various departments and with other utilities so that planned equipment outages involving mutual facilities can be arranged to coincide and result in minimum down-time. Measure and monitor the Regional Distribution System Operations Office's performance in the light of goals and objectives to ensure an effective, efficient operation. Advise dispatching personnel throughout the Company regarding course of action to take during major equipment failures or storm events. Prepare cost and staffing requirement estimates and cost/benefit justifications for projects associated with electronic control/system operations. Recommend and/or implement, where applicable, changes in job procedures in order to obtain maximum efficiency and effort. Ensure the Regional Distribution System Operations personnel are provided the necessary training to safely perform their jobs and in doing so, comply with all applicable safety procedures and policies. Work with other members of the leadership group to develop projects to improve system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a Professional Engineer's License preferred or equivalent work experience.

Specialized training or equivalent work experience with an in-depth knowledge of electric theory, energy management, computer systems.

A working knowledge of electric dispatching, electrical engineering, line construction and maintenance practices and overall district operations is required.

A thorough understanding of Labor Agreements, Accident Prevention Guidelines, and the National Electric Code is required.

Must have the ability to learn various computer mainframe applications (CREWS, SAP, PowerOn, GIS).

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft PC applications (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes).

Must possess effective leadership skills to communicate with and direct work of others that will ensure safety and produce satisfactory work results.

Must have excellent customer relations skills and strong communication skills to make clear, accurate, and concise written and oral reports.

Must be available 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
