National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec), a prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, has an immediate opening for a Manager, Design Engineering Department.  Work location is in Las Vegas, NV. 

 


Successful candidate will serve as the Design Engineering Department Manager in the NSTec Engineering Division. Leads, manages, plans and coordinates engineering work performed by multi-discipline design engineering team in a technical office environment.  Ensure adequate and qualified employee and subcontractor staffing is available to support assigned workload. Develop and manage architectural/engineering services subcontracts. Perform assigned special tasks and provide leadership, training, and consultation to co-workers. Perform management functions, including development and implementation of staffing plans, salary planning, employee performance evaluation, management assessments, process improvement, and training.  Develop, maintain, and implement engineering design procedures and architectural/engineering standards. Manage the NSTec architectural/engineering standards program. Properly interpret and apply codes and standards, and customer design requirements to the preparation of design documents, specifications and system descriptions related to the design tasks.  Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.

Successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or field related to the position, or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 12 years' related professional experience, which included extensive cross-discipline knowledge of engineering design practices, extensive responsibility for project management, and project control activities.  Professional engineering license and/or project management professional certification preferred.  Ability to communicate and interface effectively with various functional departments and client personnel.  Demonstrated skill to plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful completion. Extensive experience in supervision of engineering personnel and management of project budgets and schedules.  Skill in written and oral communication.  Ability to motivate personnel towards critical innovative thinking to ensure design is of high quality while meeting client expectations in as cost-effective manner.  Must be people-sensitive and possess the skills to promote an open and informal communications environment, develop mutual trust and teamwork, and facilitate employee self-development.  Must understand and be committed to continuous improvement.  Demonstrate skills to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations, and to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively.  Must possess an appropriate, valid driver's license.
