POSITION PROFILE:
-Position is responsible to ensure overall quality and compliance of case-ready fresh meat to established specifications.
-Individual will travel approximately 30 - 40% to meat processing facilities and closely interact with suppliers to ensure compliance.
-Individual will interface activities and projects with Department 93 buyers, case-ready suppliers and others as needed Wal-Mart departments.
-Assist in projects to enhance customer satisfaction with D93 products and/or packaging or labeling needs.
-Champion process improvement to support qualitv and achievement of D93 financial goals.
Additional Job Description and Responsibilities:
-Ensure overall quality and compliance of case-ready fresh meat to established specifications.
-Ensure product quality so that our customers get the product they pay for and expect. This is critical for the continued trust of our customers.
-Assure product quality and consistency of case-ready products with all suppliers.
-Manage specific projects related to product quality, packaging, customer satisfaction, support of Department 93 strategy and financial goals.
-Manages discrete and ongoing quality projects by identifying major areas of quality opportunity; working with partners such as suppliers or other Wal-Mart departments to understand unmet needs; addressing unmet needs with specific programs and plans; and measuring outcome of specific project work.
-Monitoring quality performance in efforts to improve overall product experience by integrating with measurement systems and processes; coordinating with internal departments and external sources of information; engaging content owners; overseeing data submissions; checking accuracy of information; and following up on questionable data on a case by case basis
-Identifies opportunities to drive costs out of the case-ready systems through improve efficiency in processing, product handling, packaging or other areas.
-Monitor improvements and any unintended consequences on overall quality level.
-Assures necessary specifications exist for case-ready products; coordinates and partners with product development specifications as applicable to ensure appropriate specifications are developed and exist for suppliers.
-Coordinates activities with Quality Control team located with all Perishable/Food distribution centers to maintain and ensure consistent inbound inspection procedures; ensures all inspection data is gathered, analyzed and communicated to all suppliers on a weekly basis.
-Coordinates activities with Department 93 buyers on a weekly basis to ensure case-ready markdown performance data has been appropriately analyzed and communicated to all case-ready suppliers to assist in driving markdowns to the lowest level.
-Improves quality of end products by seeking improvement opportunities to meet annual goals; putting plans in place to achieve improvements; monitoring execution; soliciting input from suppliers and external partners; assessing improvement programs and impacts; facilitating correction of errors process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
(Applicants must possess all of the following to be considered.)
-Expert knowledge in the field of fresh and frozen meat.
-Knowledge of retail meat cuts and meat processing.
-Must travel and audit meat processing facilities.
-Must work within a fast paced, team environment
-Knowledge of HACCP principles
-Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must possess computer skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
-Must have strong organization and execution skills.
-Ability to be self-motivating.
-Wal-Mart experience preferred.
