Introduction:
Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils (www.glgcouncils.com) are industry- and discipline-focused networks of consultants, physicians, scientists, engineers, attorneys, market researchers and other professionals from around the world. GLG Council Members enable decision-makers at investment firms, corporations and non-profit organizations to better understand the products, services, companies, issues, and industries on which they focus. On an annual basis, GLG coordinates thousands of in-person meetings and events as a core mechanism for interaction between Council Members and clients.
GLG’s Events Managers manage and leverage Gerson Lehrman Group’s core asset – the Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Councils – to participate in small-group meetings, Education Seminars and Master Classes with clients and other GLG Council members.
Candidate profile:
Potential candidates possess:
· Two to five years of post-undergraduate experience in a management capacity within an event management firm, conference or tradeshow producer, or company in a related field
· Strong event planning experience is required
· Demonstrated experience and/or interest in leading and managing teams engaged in multiple event projects, with strong emphasis on standard-setting and decision-making.
· Demonstrated experience and/or interest in developing and managing external partners in multiple event projects, to extend GLG’s event reach and brand presence.
· Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in oral, writing and presentation abilities in a business-focused setting. Strong copywriting and copyediting skills are a pre-requisite.
· Successful track record working in a team environment
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize activities effectively,
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Interest in building an Internet-driven business
· Demonstrated fluency in using technology tools to improve effectiveness and increase efficiency
· Proven ability to work in a rigorous, fast-moving work environment
· A degree from a top-tier university or equivalent work experience
Specific responsibilities include:
The Manager, Business Development and Special Events is responsible for supporting growth in GLG’s events operations, with focus on the following specific duties:
· Driving the extension of GLG’s event brands and product mix by:
o Leading in the development of strategic, co-marketing and revenue-generating relationships with producers, owners and hosts of third-party events, tradeshows and conferences, including:
§ Professional associations
§ Industry associations
§ Commercial conference and trade show owners and producers
§ Media and other branded content and information entities
o executing special event planning as directedm including:
§ GLG branded conference and trade show events
§ Internal meetings, events and other activities designed to support GLG marketing and other strategic goals
o tracking strategic and co-marketing event effectiveness and providing analysis of processes to maximize efficiency and best practices
o coordinating with other functional groups within GLG, including Finance, Compliance & Legal, to insure that event planning meets corporate standards and requirements
o managing external relationships – with venues, vendors and other third-party suppliers as necessary to support events and other projects conceived within this role
· Serving as liaison with GLG’s IT and other technical support teams, as well as outside service providers, to align GLG technology and related processes with overall events planning processes strategy.

Evaluation, Compensation and Benefits:
Following is an initial estimate of compensation and benefits for this position. The final compensation structure depends on many factors and these numbers are subject to change.
Salary: Competitive base salary plus year-end performance-based discretionary bonus

Vacation: 15 days per year plus New York Stock Exchange holidays
