Geismar Work Environment The Geismar site is the home of the world's largest Hydrofluoric Acid Plant and also the world's largest HFC-125 Refrigerant Plant (Multi- Products Plant). There are currently about 320 Honeywell and contract employees at the facility. The site has experienced recent growth with the construction and commissioning of a batch process AclonÔ resin plant in 2000 and of a 245FA refrigerant plant and an HFC-125 Plant in 2002. Expansion work was also recently completed in the HF, Multi-Products Refrigerant and the Aclon plants. The Maintenance Department currently uses vibration and oil analysis, infrared thermography, laser alignment, and has an extensive inspection program for piping and pressure vessels. We also have a precision repair program for rotating equipment. The site welding program boasts a world class weld reject of less than one percent. The Maintenance Department is a close knit group that works together as a team to solve problems. The Maintenance Department also has a close working relationship with Operations. The Maintenance Engineer will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. Currently, the Maintenance Engineer will work a 9-80 work schedule in which every other Friday will be an off day. Start times vary between about 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM. During turn-arounds (TARs), the engineers will work twelve hours a day; typically there are two per year. The TARs last about 3-5 days. The engineers are also on-call about five weeks out of the year. Depending on the criticality of problems in the plant, the engineer may have to work nights and weekends.
Daily Responsibilities · Assist Operations and Maintenance Technicians with troubleshooting as needed.· Completion of small capital projects from conception to construction.· Oversee updating of all Process Safety Information when maintenance changes are implemented.· Provide technical support for day-to-day activities as well as for large capital projects· Drive improvement initiatives within the department.· Develop new PM procedures and revise existing PM procedures as necessary· Target the equipment on the “Top 10” list in regard to cost savings projects and downtime reduction projects.· Manage critical spares program.
Maintenance Supervisor's Vision My vision is to create and maintain a world class maintenance organization. Honeywell has embarked upon a path of continuous improvement and has made significant improvements in all areas. There are still many opportunities for improvement. Continuous improvement involves everyone in the maintenance organization's participation, as well as those in other departments. Some areas my team is currently focusing on include, but are not limited to: · Implementing the HOS (Honeywell Operating Systems) philosophy in all facets of the maintenance process.· Maintenance Planning and Scheduling improvements.· Optimizing the Preventive Maintenance Program.· Critical spares management.· Improvement of maintenance facilities and tools.· Conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis on significant failures.
Candidate Requirements · At least 3 years of experience in industry· Excellent troubleshooting skills· Track record for reducing maintenance costs and downtime of “bad actors”· Well rounded background in rotating equipment, pressure vessels, welding, pipe fabrication, cost estimation, etc.· Possess high potential for advancement· Good report writing skills· Capable of working with all levels within the organization· Self directed requiring minimal supervision. Person picks up on improvement opportunities on their own without being told.· Strong work ethic with doing "whatever it takes" as second nature.· High level of integrity and ability to develop the trust and respect of site personnel.· Able to prioritize improvement initiatives and focus Maintenance Group on these areas.· Strong leadership qualities with ability to quickly understand existing systems and implement improvement solutions to areas needing improvement. · Strong organization skills in the areas of cost tracking, implementation of reliability programs, productivity improvement, personnel management, personal time management, etc.· Must be field or "hands on" oriented.· Strong people skills both inside and outside the department. Must work well with Maintenance Technicians and members of the Operations Departments.
