purpose:
The primary role of the SR Merchandise Manager is to drive category vision and execution. Maximize sales and margin for assigned product categories in Retail and on the Web by planning and managing assortments and product mix through the entire product life cycle. This position drives cross-functional communication in coordination with planning, allocation, visual, and working in teams to drive assigned sales, profit and inventory goals.
essential duties and responsibilities:
Drive vision and execution for assigned categories.
· Develop seasonal and long range category plans that differentiate lucy in the marketplace and deliver target results.
· Assess environment to create business opportunities, incorporating customer knowledge, market knowledge, and competitive information
Achieve or exceed sales, margin and GMROI for assigned product categories.
Manage all elements of assigned categories including: price management including pricing and markdowns, purchase order and on order management, product flow in accordance with OTB and merchandising strategy, vendor management
Develop store relevant assortments to drive store performance
Working with cross functional teams, lead strategy and execution from product conception to retail
Lead (virtual) cross-functional category teams by using knowledge of vision to influence outcomes
Work with Planning to develop the style and style/color level commitments to maximize productivity
Provide categorical direction to design team on line development and evolution. Further influence product success by participating in fit sessions as product moves through pipeline to verify product criteria met, and elevating any product issues
Work with Production in achieving desired product quality and margin delivery
Develop and communicate channel strategies and market relevant assortments with Allocation
Partner with Visual Merchandising and Marketing to execute category vision at retail, with the customer, and to maximize store productivity
Develop and manage direct reports in accordance with staffing plans
Key Interfaces with Design, Planning, Allocation, Production, Stores, Visual, Marketing and DC
qualifications:

Director or Divisional level experience in a multi-channel environment preferred
10-12 years of experience in a retail/catalog planning or buying capacity – preferably with a multi channel retailer
Specialty women’s apparel experience preferred
Demonstrated experience driving a business and developing business opportunities
Understanding of product process from creation thru retail
Assortment planning and inventory management
Strong analytical skills
Demonstrated advanced spreadsheet capabilities
College degree preferred
