Job Description:

Legal analysts are a group of professionals who assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services. Through formal education, training, and experience, legal analysts have knowledge and experience regarding the legal system and substantive and procedural law, which qualify them to provide a large variety of legal services, from litigation to licensing under the supervision of an attorney. A legal analyst reports to supervisory attorney but may not legally represent a customer or give legal advice.

The description of legal services required of a legal analyst is tailored to the unique requirements of each of the divisions, so no single set of qualifications applies to all legal analysts.

Among the duties and responsibilities entrusted to legal analysts are the following:

Prepare minutes, certificates, and other documents in connection with the corporation and its subsidiaries Conduct legal research Conduct training of non-lawyers in legal aspects of our business Administer legal research databases Review non-disclosures agreements, teaming agreements, software agreements and other contracts Organize and maintain litigation files and documents Prepare pleadings and other written courts filings Investigate and interview witnesses Prepare discovery responses in litigation in which Harris is not a party Coordinate and manage document production Coordinate with outside counsel in all of the above, as necessary Assist the attorney in administering and managing the costs of outside counsel and other outside legal services

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or Paralegal/Legal Assistant Associates’ degree or Certification preferred. Minimum of three years of prior relevant experience in a law firm or in-house law department. Government contracts experience required.

 

Experience:

Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written Good personal computer skills Ability and willingness to work in a team setting Initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in carrying out legal tasks Familiarity with LEXIS/NEXIS and/or West Law highly desirable Government contracts knowledge is a plus
