Purpose:

The Department of English at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic institution, is receiving applications to teach one or more sections of Business Writing during fall quarter 2008 and winter quarter 2009.



Qualifications

MA, MFA or Ph.D. in English/rhetoric/writing and experience making a living writing technical manuals, advertising or marketing copy, proposals, grants, etc., or in a related, writing-focused position, ideally with some expertise in training or teaching business writing courses.

Rank and Salary Lecturer, Quarterly Part Time; $5,500 per course.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching one or more sections of Business Writing during fall/winter quarter/s. Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with assigned courses, including: Conducting all assigned class meetings with students; Assigning and evaluating written work that aligns with Core Writing learning outcomes; Holding weekly office hours on campus; Administering both quantitative and narrative evaluation instruments as set by your department chair; Submitting student grades to the Registrar by the designated deadline; Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Department.
