Altarum is seeking a Lean Healthcare Coach who will complement the Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) practice.

The Lean Healthcare Coach will lead selected projects using various CPI methods particularly Lean (Toyota Production System) and Six Sigma. The successful candidate must be able to select and apply the appropriate CPI technique for each project. The candidate will also assist clients with selecting projects and solving problems using CPI tools to ultimately improve quality of care. The candidate may need to lead and work on projects outside of CPI and Healthcare.

Some specific responsibilities include:

• Act as lead facilitator on Process Mapping/Lean Six Sigma Improvement Teams. Responsible for all aspects of project execution, client management, and status reporting in the field.
• Provide communication to the Project Manager and other leaders on project status and deliverables.
• Ensure CPI methodologies are compatible and compliant with Program requirements.
• Provide technical and functional guidance to other Altarum Lean Six Sigma team members, including identifying new opportunities.
• Serve as a Team Leader by mentoring and coaching senior leadership team members and staff selected to be educated as Lean Leaders.
• Apply Lean tools to meet customer needs and win add-on work.

The successful candidate should possess:

• Comprehensive experience in Lean (Toyota Production System) and Six Sigma tools, is required.
• Deep Value Stream experience is required.
• Ten or more years of internal and external CPI expertise is required.
• Experience applying Lean principles to Healthcare and experience in healthcare a plus.
• Six sigma Black or Master Black Belt certification a plus.
• Candidate must be able to provide results from projects they personally led.
A Bachelor’s degree in the healthcare field or a technical degree in a related field such as engineering, information systems, computer science or business. A Master's degree is preferred.

This position is based in the Portland, Oregon area. Travel to facilities nationwide will be in the range of 30-70%. Some projects may require more travel.
