Position Description: Provides technical direction and expertise to systems teams and/or clients responsible for maintaining software products, configuring computer storage hardware, resolving availability problems, protecting data resources, and conducting feasibility studies in any area of System and Storage Operations.
Position Requirements:Contributes significantly to the overall satisfaction of computer systems customers through efficient planning and administration of the systems storage and backup environments. Conducts or oversees the planning, installation, configuration, conversion, modification, testing, tuning, debugging, and administration of DASD and attached HSM Tape infrastructure and other generalized program products involving significant complexity and scope at all host computer installations. Coordinates technical activities of departmental project teams comprised of multiple support groups to achieve the successful introduction of technology enhancements without disrupting systems environment stability. Assists Information Services professionals and clients in determining the best use of technology to solve complex issues and problems. Analyzes system-wide performance tuning results to confirm optimum value is obtained from all available system resources: processors, storage devices, databases, networks, etc. Develops information architectures, standards and procedures that improve availability, integrity, security, control, expense, or conservation goals for storage devices. Determines essential technical education and training to maintain or expand skills for the department, completes personal education goals, and assists with staff curriculums and instruction. Travel as necessary for training and certain project activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
