PaR Nuclear, Inc. a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company, located in Shoreview, MN has an excellent opportunity to join our growing team.
The primary function of the position will be to provide a high level of technical review in the design of fuel handling equipment with a focus on ease of installation and maintainability. This position also serves as a supervisory role during the field installation of PaR Nuclear refueling equipment at remote operating nuclear power plants.
1. Perform tech/service lead and shift supervisor activities, including but not limited to field project management, field project planning/scheduling, crew work assignments, customer orientation, and technical conflict resolution.
2. Supervise and lead installation, setup, troubleshoot, testing, and maintain refueling equipment at customer sites, using but not limited to installation procedures, setup and calibration procedures, and site acceptance test procedures. Serves as a technical adviser as required.
3. Provide design engineering support through design reviews, procedure review, and the preparation of field documents required for equipment installation. Maintain high level of knowledge on current and new technology being incorporated in refueling equipment designs and procedures.
4. Provide support to engineering project manager by accurately documenting equipment design and performance issues during field implementation, and ensure corrective actions and lessons learned meetings are complete prior to final project document transmittal.
5. Provide support to manufacturing by performing activities such as equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, and equipment and process qualifications. Participate in factory setup of equipment, Factory Acceptance Testing with customer and provide customer equipment maintenance and operational training as required.
6. Perform all assigned tasks under minimal supervision, with a high degree of quality, and within the parameters of qualified procedures and guidelines. Maintain a high level of attention to detail, and document all quality and design related issues.
7. Develop, exercise and promote team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers and other departments. Demonstrate good customer sensitivity and customer service skills. Develop and maintain a focus on creative problem solving.
8. Act as the subject matter expert to develop training programs, lesson plans, and present training material to less experienced technicians and customers.
9. Practice ALARA principles and a "Safety First" attitude as an integral part of all installation activities. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices in work areas. Maintain "Unescorted Access" status.
10. This position requires moderate travel (40-50%), maintenance of "Unescorted Access" status, and working with hazardous materials in a radiological controlled area, within an operating nuclear power plant.
11. Perform work at technician and senior technician levels as needed. Provide technical direction and guide other personnel in equal or lower classification. Provide a leadership role, and promote effective teamwork among other personnel. Performs duties of Resource Lead. May function as supervisor as required.
Meet or exceed all requirements of Senior Technician position description and minimum critical skill qualifications as defined by our skills matrix. Consistently demonstrated performance at levels that exceed expectations, 4 to 6 years related field experience in leading and coordinating field projects where satisfactorily demonstrated evidence of leadership skills.
High school graduate or the recognized equivalent plus 2 year, post high school degree/certificate or appropriate field experience. Specific knowledge and training in AC/DC electrical, motor controls, electronics, and mechanical curriculum as required, as well as knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic programming.
