Responsible for the development of the instrumentation and control systems for the projects and designs for the CO2 Chilled Ammonia Process (CAP) or Advanced Amines. He/She will provide the expertise on state-of-the-art solutions in the control of similar plant configurations in the petrochem, syngas, or gas industries. He/She will also ensure conformance to codes, standards, and work instructions. Reports to Manager, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering. Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Major Responsibilities:
Work with the Lead Process Engineer and Technology Managers to develop and optimize: Control philosophy for the process plantsControl instrumentation for the process operationAnalytical instrumentationStart-up, shutdown and emergency shutdown systemIntegration into the power plant control system and feed forward control with the power plant under consideration of cost, reliability, maintenance and performanceInstitute new designs based on Lessons Learned Database and Cost Reduction Team findings, risk, cost and price reviews.Education Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering required. Advanced degree a plus.
Experience:
Minimum ten (10) years experience in instrumentation and control engineering of complex process plants in the Petrochem, Syngas or Gas Industries.
Certification:
P.E. License preferred.
Knowledge:
Plant Risk Reviews and Hazop StudiesFans, Blowers, and CompressorsField/performance testing and sampling methodologies Control loops and interlock systems designProcess control for high-pressure systemsFluid Dynamics is a plusSkills:
Proficient at preparing and interpreting Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Proficient at incorporating current design code requirements into final designPLC and DCS ProgrammingAbility:
Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and commitment.Proficient with company standard office software and discipline specific technical software. Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and supervisor (written and verbal).Proficient at planning and organizing.Proficient at working with designers to produce high quality, accurate, complete engineering documents (drawings and specifications).Proficient at working with engineers to produce high quality, accurate, complete engineering delivery.Able to work and communicate effectively in dispersed, multi-cultural teams.Physical Conditions:
Ability to work in both office and construction site environments. Must be capable of travel to client, consultants, suppliers, company offices, and job sites. Job sites require use of ladders and stairs to perform duties. Travel may be international or domestic.
