DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  The Administrative Office of the Courts seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a LAN Architecture Manager.  The position is responsible for 24X7 support of the Judicial Branch’s highly available applications and their surrounding infrastructure served from a SAN/Blade environment. This position will supervise 7 -10 technical engineers and will report to executive management. The selected candidate will have a recent and deep background working with Windows servers, Active Directory, Tivoli, VMWare, Linux and storage solutions, as well as the related systems administration and performance tuning tasks required to keep large-scale Windows applications running at peak performance. The position is also responsible for advising executive management of new technology and architectures relating to hardware and software.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:  Requires an extensive knowledge of networking, server platforms, storage devices, and intranet/internet systems; Windows and Linux platforms; strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and with teams; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; proven knowledge of project management including but not limited to, project scope definition, value assessment, resource planning, requirements gathering, design specification, implementation, testing, and training; ability to work toward and meet project milestones and deadlines; and ability to work from the input of other groups to create the functional and architectural requirements of policy, procedures, and standards.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Completion of a bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Networking, or other technical area and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with 4-6 years of relevant experience in the administration of SAN/Blade systems and large Windows infrastructures; at least 2 years of experience in developing complex projects across all phases of the project life cycle, and at least 1 year of IT experience in research methods and practices.
