This position contributes sound people management, engineering problem solving and project management skills to ensure the Joplin Technical Service Laboratory meets their short and long term business commitments. Ensure planning and scheduling best practices are being adhered to, provide solutions for Research and Development, project and site issues and manage day to day associate activity.  This position manages both internal and external resources to support activities of the entire network. This position also actively participates and contributes to the success of area continuous improvement teams Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role. It will be accomplished through developing and maintaining an organization that demonstrates improvement by continuously driving faults lower. Principal Accountabilities Conversion. Actively participate and collaborate with all functional areas to provide for continuous improvement activities (Plant Service Level (PSL), productivity, quality, safety, waste reduction, etc.) within the assigned area. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive reliability improvement program, which will ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable method.   Develop and adhere to Service Level Agreements with internal customers        Represent Mars Petcare in Global harmonization efforts.  Change Agent - Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive reliability improvement program, which will ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable method Become a leading site advocate with respect to reliability issues. Associate Advocacy -. Staffing, development, and evaluation of Lab Associates Monitor performance of lab techs as well as addressing personnel issues such as                attendance, attitude, and adherence to company policies. Continuously improve Lab associates engagement using impact sessions and the  Gallup Survey as the primary tools. Technology Advancement  Develop/Optimize wet chemistry analytical techniques to support Food Safety, other MPC business units and the NIR calibration program. Assist Food Safety Systems Manager in implementation of new test methods, and instrument installation, calibration and maintenance.  Area Strategy - Communicate with appropriate plant QA personnel in a timely manner regarding specific testing issues and production situations.  Personal Development - Keep abreast of managerial and technical competencies both within and outside Mars Petcare US. Minimum Qualifications:·         The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of A PHD Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or food sciences or equivalent work experience. 10 years experience in a Laboratory Environment. in a Research and Development capacity 5 years experience in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation Experience developing and preparing Capital spending requests Experience monitoring the performance of lab techs as well as addressing personnel issues such as attendance, attitude, and adherence to company policies.·         Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, e-mail.Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely Successful completion of a drug and background screen Preferred Qualifications: A PHD degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or food sciences. Minimum 5 year experience in a food/feed testing laboratory in supervisory role.
