UTB/TSC LAB COORDINATOR - BIOLOGYLAB COORDINATIOR is responsible for the timely set up of biological sciences laboratory courses taught at the Biological Sciences Department. This position also entails course scheduling, preparation and distribution of topic schedules to instructors, ordering, setup of equipment with cecessary materials. The laboratory coordinator is responsible for the timely notification of instructors of any dificencies and will report directly to the chair of the department. To fulfill this mission, the laboratory coordinator's duties include, but are not limited to 1) maintenance of classrooms, equipment contained therein including ice machine, autoclaves and water system in shared rooms which are utilized by teaching labs; 2) the syubmittal and follow-through of all work orders related to upkeep and functionality of laboratories; 3) Maintenance of and preparation of microbiological strains, solutions and media used in labs; 4) Maintenance and audinting of departmental inventories, manuals, MSDS and other repair and service logs which also entailsmaintaining contact with vendors and departments; 5) montly reconciliation of expenditures and revenue for laboratoru fee accounts, as well as budgeting for and ordering of all laboratory assistant staff; 7) perform aother duties as assighned by the chair. This is a security sensitive position subject to Texas Education Code 51.215 which allows the employer to obtain criminal history record information.Bachelor of Science in Biology is required. A master's degree in biology with research experience and / or business coursework preferred. The successful candidate should have supervisory and organizational skills as well as demonstrated collegiality; the candidate should demonstrate good communication skills, both orally and in writing. Salary is per UTB/TSC Classified Pay Plan.
