TITLE:

 

Junior Quality Engineer

 

SUMMARY:  Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager– Quality Engineer, The incumbent will work in support of the facilities where train sets are assigned for maintenance utilizing available software systems to build reporting tools that will demonstrate maintenance efficiencies and equipment reliability against departmental goals.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

General – Operational role

Work in concert with facility materials and maintenance personnel. Responsible for Inbound inspection new and broken materials at V Street distribution Centre.Monitor selected material management functions in the supply chain: Product conformance management (Inbound/outbound inspections, NCRs close up, Material Review Board).Responsible for all Measuring and Monitoring Devices use for the maintenance of Acela High Speed Rail.  Manage and monitor Oil samples analysis for all three (3) depots.Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate data relating to inbound of materials from suppliers.

·         Ensure that monthly Key Performance Indicators are issued and reviewed in line with the Quality Cost Delivery requirements

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Educational Requirements

·            Prefer four (4) year degree or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Military experience acceptable.

Technical Knowledge / Experience

Must have: 

·         Two (2) years (minimum) working in a quality control/quality assurance environment – prefer railroad/heavy industry.

·         Must have good verbal and written communication skills – English.

·         Adept at analysis of processes and skilled in resolving difficult obstacles encountered in the supply chain and related workflow.

Prefer well developed and refines problem-solving skills in procedures and process control areas including reliability centered maintenance programs.

·         Practical working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and quality tools such as Kaizan, 5S, 8D, and Cause-Effect root cause analysis.
