The IT Security Expert provides technical advice and guidance to management in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems. They will apply business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies/principles and business process modernization projects. Also applies activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques. Assists in establishing standards for information systems procedures. Develops and applies organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated, shared software and database management systems. Constructs sound, logical business improvement opportunities consistent with corporate Information Management guiding principles, cost savings, and open system architecture objectives. May participate in all phases of task performance with emphasis on requirements development, planning, analysis and design, and testing and acceptance phases. Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings as required by the task. Provides management with status of projects, problems or other outstanding project related issues.

Experience:

Minimum ten years of demonstrated experience is required in information systems development, functional and data requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, programming, program design and documentation preparation.

- Minimum of eight years must be intensive and progressive experience in the implementation of information engineering projects; systems analysis, design and programming; systems planning; business information planning; and business analysis.

Minimum required:

* Knowledge of, and skill in applying, information technology (IT) security principles and methods to develop, implement, and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems and services.

* Expert knowledge of IT security principles.

* Knowledge of system security engineering principles.

* Extensive knowledge and background in computer operating and application software, data communications, and computer hardware in evaluating state-of-the art products, performing studies, and assisting in the development of future plans for the secure application of information technology within the organization.

* Knowledge of existing as well as new and emerging technologies and their security implications and how they might best be used/implemented securely to meet current and future business requirements and apply to, extend, enhance, or optimize the existing architecture.

* Skill in applying project management principles, methods, and practices including developing plans and schedules, estimating resource requirements, monitoring activities, directing efforts (as applicable) of team members to accomplish assigned functions and special projects, resolving minor administrative or management problems that may arise; and evaluating accomplishments.

* Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively in order to participate in meetings and conferences, obtain information, present briefings and technical reports, and provide consultation and advice to all levels of management as well as co-workers.

Desired:

- Knowledge of Rational Unified Process. ITIL knowledge, Knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture.

This position is full time employment with L-3 supporting our client the FAA.

FAA Security requirements: Minimum Green Card with 3 consecutive years US employment history.

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other related discipline is required.
