POSITION TITLE: IT MANAGER
REPORTS TO: IT Director
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The IT Manager's role is to plan, organize, and execute the timely, quality delivery of assigned enterprise-wide IT projects, to manage service contract renewals, and coach and support standard IT practices.  This includes ensuring all affected business areas are included in complex work order and project decision making processes as well as ultimate project delivery. The IT Manager reports to the IT Director, and takes direction on establishing, practicing, promoting, and coaching all employees on a Standard Project Management and Delivery Methodology, service contract management, and standard IT practices.   The IT Manager will also identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

DUTIES

Responsible for all aspects of the researching, data gathering, planning, management, issue tracking & resolution, and implementation of assigned projects and complex work orders.  Takes projects from original concept through final implementation.  Interfaces with all business areas affected by the project including all business leadership, operations, end users, computer services, and application vendors to form an optimal project team.  Customizes and documents a project charter defining the project team, project scope, project objectives, project deliverables, issue resolution tracking and management, project status reporting, project success criteria, project assumptions and constraints, project funding requirements and authorization, project delivery time line, and overall project approach to be followed for large assigned project. Defines and manages business requirements, project scope and objectives.  Develops detailed project plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables for compliance. Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as all required vendor interfaces. Documents and maintains the Standard Project Management & Delivery Methodology, Standard User Desktop Requirement for all job types, and all other established IT standards. Establishes an online, shared project repository documenting both active projects, as well as archiving closed project.  Practices the Standard Project Archival Process ensuring adequate audit trail documentation is retained to support reasonable and responsible due diligence. Proactively coaches all IT team members on effectively practicing and communicating the Standard Project Management & Delivery Methodology, and Standard Work Order Management process, as well as maintaining a credible ITG Master Inventory. Proactively manages the value assessment, renewal decision recommendation, and renewal support for all service maintenance contracts prior to expiration. Supports the IT Business Continuity strategy and plan by leading assigned test projects and coordinating appropriate tasks and events with various business line personnel, IT staff, and vendors as assigned. Ensures all IT Operational Procedures, network configuration diagrams, Cable Management diagrams, Office Hardware/Software/Telephone diagrams and required documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date. Reports on all IT-related hardware and software movement to ITG Inventory Management; employs various research methods to gather info/data as needed to support each project assigned. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of the AAA Colorado technical topology/architecture, business functionality, security interface requirements, distributed desktop hardware/software/licensing requirements, and key business applications to effectively support the existing business operation as well as all leadership strategies & business plans. Participates in budget planning, cost tracking, and purchasing of IT-related equipment and services, as required. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. A minimum of 3-4 years of Project Management experience delivering complex IT projects successfully. Knowledge and experience working with a Standard Project Management & Delivery Methodologies. Knowledge and experience as a business analyst, writing business requirements, and effective problem resolution. Experience communicating, presenting, and escalating effectively with all levels of the business, especially with senior management as required. Experience effectively interfacing and managing vendors and service providers. IT related experience working with systems, projects, database management, inventory management, and IT related support vendors. Prior experience in managing, motivating, training and supervising personnel. Ability to communicate technical solutions to management in non-technical terms. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office 2003, MS Project, Outlook, Access, Exchange and other PC-based applications and tools. Project Management Certification or PMP Certification preferred. Appli­cation development background and database knowledge preferred. Prior experience utilizing network-monitoring software preferred. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technology, JD Edwards, AS400 iSeries, HP UNIX, and Microsoft Exchange is preferred.
