Providence (www.provcorp.com) is a national provider of managed social services specializing in providing direct services and case management to children, adolescents, young adults, adults and geriatric adults  with behavioral health needs and those supervised by government subsidized programs. Providence is a public company (NASQ:PRSC) and over the past 10 years has grown from a single office in Tucson, Arizona to about 500 offices in 42 states with 10,000+ employees. Providence has a dynamic IT staff that is located around the country and manages and supports most offices remotely by utilizing a corporate WAN and a strong set of enterprise software systems and tools.  Providence is a Microsoft shop running a Windows 2003 Active Directory network around the country. E-mail is hosted internally using Microsoft Exchange. Web sites are hosted internally on Microsoft IIS. Accounting systems are primarily Microsoft Solomon accounting and payroll systems are ADP Payroll. The WAN is connected using WatchGuard Firebox appliances – X Core and X Edge. The servers, workstations and laptops are all Dell computers and primarily run Windows XP/Vista and Office 2003/2007 as clients and Windows 2000/2003 as servers. There is a corporate intranet with various online systems including document management and a message board. Vector-Networks PC-Duo is used for enterprise remote control, helpdesk, software & hardware inventory and software distribution systems. Other enterprise IT tools used includes systems such as Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise, Symantec Backup, Executive Software Undelete and Diskeeper and Winternals, among others. The corporate office is in Tucson, Arizona and there are major regional hubs in Clearwater, Florida, Los Alamitos, California, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Georgia, Victoria, British Columbia and in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

 

There is an immediate opening for an IT Manager/Director – Pacific Region.  This is a permanent, full time-time position and will reside in Los Alamitos, CA. Travel to Providence offices around the Pacific region will be an occasional but ongoing requirement associated with this position. Overview:

 

The Information Technology Manager/Director is principally responsible for the technical and personnel management of all information technology systems and staff for a given region in the company.  Together with other regional IT Directors and IT Infrastructure staff, they form the IT management team that establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the information technology department, nationally.  The regional IT Manager/Director will establish close working relationships with key regional stakeholders in operations, finance and human resources to act as a bridge between business operations and external entities and systems to which the company interfaces as well as a bridge between business operations and the rest of the IT department.

 

 

Job Duties:

 

* Works with regional leadership to define short-term and long-term information technology needs, works with senior management to integrate those needs into the overall strategic plan, and develops solutions to address those needs.  Participates in recurring meetings – via travel in the region and via teleconference - with both business and IT leadership to establish a continuous cycle of needs assessment and issue resolution.

* Provides regional end-user support and troubleshoots hardware/software problems for all regional IT systems.  Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, emails and personnel requests for technical support in a timely manner as defined by regional SLA’s.  Documents, tracks, and monitors problems to ensure timely resolution

* Technical management – implementation, support, upgrade and maintenance - for both new systems and evaluation of changes to existing systems, for all key regional application systems in the organization, including accounting, clinical and operational, payroll and human resources, standard office applications and any custom systems.

* Technical management  – implementation, support, upgrade and maintenance - for both new systems and evaluation of changes to existing systems, for all key regional hardware systems, including servers, firewalls, routers, switches, specialized data center hardware, specialized appliances, workstations, telephony, copier/fax, alarm and messaging/paging.

* Responsible for ongoing risk assessment and quality assurance for the IT systems in their region as well as participating in the risk assessment and quality assurance of national projects that involve their region.

* Implements policies and procedures regarding how problems are identified, received, documented, distributed, and corrected. Ensures maximum issue resolution in minimum time.

* Manages regional IT Support staff

* Participates in the definition and creation of a regional information technology budget.

* Travel is required, by both plane and car.  On occasion nights and weekends will be part of the work schedule for special projects

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

* Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience required

* 6 years or more of relevant experience required

* Microsoft or other certifications relating to Information Technology and Information Systems such as directed MCP’s beneficial.

* Understanding of HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley and their impact on publicly traded companies preferred

* Experience working in a health care related field preferred

* Experience working in a multi-national and multi-cultural environment preferred

* Experience working for a publicly traded company preferred

* Project management experience beneficial
