Progressive Product and Acquisition Internet Development team has an immediate need for an experienced ActionScript developer to join our fast paced, high-profile environment.
The Programmer is an intermediate position responsible for developing cost-effective information technology solutions for business related problems with minimal guidance by creating new or enhancing and maintaining existing software programs/applications or components. Key activities could include, but not limited to researching and analyzing of business technical functionality and needs, coding systems enhancements, coding defect fixes, and on-call production support. Follows the steps involved in the life cycle of software development. Creates and executes unit test plans to ensure code quality.
Possesses and applies skills and knowledge of software program/application development. Knows the fundamental concepts of software program/application development methodology and life cycle, and recommends solutions to technical projects of basic to moderate complexity and scope. Uses troubleshooting skills to determine appropriate programming solutions for existing systems. Works on several software application development and/or enhancement projects. Follows processes and procedures that may vary and be somewhat difficult. Analyzes information and/or situations that require a review of a variety of factors. Seeks input on more complex recommendations, defect issues, and/or new software program/application development tasks.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology, or related discipline, which could include Computer Science, Information Systems (IS) or Management Information Systems (MIS). In lieu of a degree, at least four years of related work experience designing/developing, programming, and supporting software programs/applications in client server or mainframe environments.
Work Experience Requirements:
- With Bachelor's Degree, must have at least 2 years of related work experience with software applications and computer code/programming language.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with others, which could include levels of management.
- The ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Good organization skills with the ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignment simultaneously.
- The ability to support department goals that align with current and future Company objectives and initiatives.
- Good negotiation skills with the ability to find successful resolutions for basic to moderately complex issues, escalating those that require management involvement, when necessary.
- Must be able to work under general supervision in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- The ability to pay close attention to details.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of application enhancements to our award winning Internet Auto Quoting / Buy applications. The ability to work as part of a team while self managing priorities and commitments is a must.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 18 months experience with Object Oriented Flash programming using ActionScript 2/3.
At least 2 years overall experience in OO analysis, design and development of n-tier web based applications in a corporate setting.
Experience developing with C# or C++ and the .NET framework.
Experience with XML and developing data driven applications.
Experience working in a large, multi-developer, application environment.
Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience working in an Agile or self directed team setting. Relational database experience.
Experience with DHTML and client side scripting.
Experience with MS Visual Studio, IIS, and other Internet related tools would be helpful, but training will be provided for these skills, as necessary.
