The Analyst focuses on building financial models using the PMCF proprietary modeling tool (Excel based), conducting industry and company research, and assisting in the writing of Offering Memorandums and other transaction related documents.
Development and manipulation of financial models includes conducting Discounted Cash Flow analyses and Leveraged Buyout Analyses to determine company valuations for financing, deal structure and terms, and cash flow feasibility. This activity includes entering historical financial information, forecasting future periods and developing sound assumptions after checking the model for validity and correctness.
Research activities include identifying strategic and financial buyers, creating industry overviews, identifying buying trends, and engaging business development research. Information is obtained through various internal and external databases, Internet searches, and available publications. Analyzing obtained information for effective use in transaction process is an essential component in an Analyst’s job.
The Analyst will also write assigned sections of marketing and selling documents detailing very specific attributes of target and client companies to entice M&A action. Under the direction of senior team members, this may include the creation of charts and other visuals, financial data, formatting and presentation of final document.
Additional written communication responsibilities may include some involvement in assembling, developing, and/or editing information requests, due diligence lists, confidentiality agreements, engagements letters, proposals and management presentations.
Verbal and personal communication may consist of contact with potential buyers, financial institutions, attorneys, internal P&M service groups, and clients. Discussion topics may include requests for information, reviews of financial models created, reviews of financial models created, telephone calls and faxes to companies on buyer’s list, discussions of timelines and processes, status and updates and scheduling of meetings.
