The Improvements® Catalog, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is part of Cornerstone Brands, a division of the Home Shopping Network (HSN). The catalog features many branded and exclusive products as well as products designed and engineered in-house.  We constantly look for new and exciting products from domestic and foreign sources to offer consumers quality and value in products that are practical and functional for all areas of the home, patio and garden. Over the years, Improvements® has become a multi-channel business through both catalog and e-commerce growth, offering consumers a wide range of product categories to meet lifestyle, décor and practical problem solving needs.

 

 

Job Purpose

Champion the internet channel and lead strategy, planning and execution of marketing programs designed to drive internet traffic, demand and profit.  Manage and develop best in class website to optimize customer experience, conversion and loyalty.   Ensure the content and technical aspects of the site are meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Acquisition

Manage all website activities to include: new customer acquisition, search, lead generation, affiliates and online media to improve/increase conversion.  Continually evaluate and improve effectiveness of existing campaigns and partnerships. Design and implementation of test and learn programs to innovate and identify effective new programs to drive results.  Develop budget and appropriate marketing mix to optimize new customer acquisition within ROI targets.

 

Strategy Development

Develop strategy and establish relationships for online marketing partnerships, including vendor management, negotiations, contract development and due diligence.  Provide strategic direction and implementation of site development for all company websites.  Work with the Vice President to develop strategic plans, budgets and the annual operating plan.


Site Development

Identify new growth opportunities; continually evaluate and improve effectiveness of existing campaigns and partnerships. Design and implement tests and identify effective new programs to drive results.  Plan and execute online marketing programs to meet/exceed monthly and quarterly business goals.  Ongoing review of site for accuracy and user functionality.


Project Management

Responsible for the planning and monitoring of the tracking, evaluating and reporting of each project while providing leadership and motivation. 

 

Research and Analysis

Review sales reports on a regular basis to assess success of programs. Research and analyze buyer and non buyer patterns.  Review needs and obstacles and implement these learning into actions. Provide data to department and company to support recommendations to maximize competitive advantages, sales and profit margins. Stay current on competitor's marketing efforts.  Manage tracking, reporting and analytics of marketing programs and provide management reports and insights as needed.

 

People

Develop and lead a highly motivated team to grow the Internet channel and ensure that the company is focused on delivering customer-focused solutions.  Drive and coordinate the Internet interface with internal departments including, IT, Marketing and Merchandising.

 

General Management

Actively and positively contribute to the overall success of Improvements through regular contributions to the general management of the company.  Participate and provide leadership in inter-departmental meetings, projects and informal activities. 

 

Core Competencies:

Essential skills and Abilities Include the Following:

§          Hands-on experience of providing strategic direction for website including development, technology utilized, usability/navigation and web analytics

§          Online media management experience and ability to leverage marketplace connections

§          Strong understanding of the internet and on-line and off-line direct marketing tools and best practices; Catalog experience a plus

§          Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate analysis into executable marketing programs

§          Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to develop concise, clear and compelling business presentations

§          Results oriented and ability to excel in fast paced multitasking environment

§          Strong knowledge of current internet technologies and best practices

§          Team oriented-ability to lead, mentor and direct teams toward accomplishments of Improvements goals and objectives

§          Project management skills – ability to access, determine scope/risks of projects and work with team to implement and adhere to timelines

Education and Experience:

§          Bachelors Degree

§          A seasoned professional with a least of 10 years of progressive growth focused in Internet marketing and operations

§          The successful candidate will have substantial experience is driving measurable results in new customer acquisition and maximizing the online revenue.
