Corporate Finance – International Finance Department

 

Department Description

 

International Finance Department is reporting on the global consolidation of the company’s:

1.      Financial Position

2.      Operating Activity, and

3.      Cash Flow Statement.

 

The Department is required to report this information monthly, quarterly and yearly in addition to the various information disclosures as required by GAAP, IFRS and other regulatory divisions.

 

Responsibilities of the Department include but are not limited to:

§         Account Analysis

§         Preparing and Posting Monthly Journal Entries

§         Preparation of the 2009 Business Plan and 2008 Forecast

§         Financial Reports and Required Disclosures

§         Providing Financial Solutions for the Management and Operation of the Company

 

The International Finance Department’s services are rendered to other departments within corporate finance as well the finance departments within each region outside of the United States.  We provide reports to outside external accounting auditors, and the company’s shareholders.   

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

We envision that, throughout the intern’s experience with Cushman & Wakefield he or she will be assigned to either a single long-term project or various short-term.  The assigned project(s) will touch upon many of the areas of concentration described above.

 

The intern will report to the Director of International Finance, however in order to give a well-rounded exposure to the whole department and provide an opportunity for a challenge, we believe that the intern may be asked to help in any of the aforementioned areas based on our needs at a particular time.

 

The intern will be given an attainable and measurable goal and timeline within which to meet that goal.  Weekly formal or informal performance evaluation discussions will be held with the intern’s direct supervisor/manager. During these discussions, the intern will be further guided towards achieving both short-term and long-term goals of the assigned project.

 

 

 

Sample Project Assignment

 

Liability Section Account Analysis - the intern will be asked to research and resolve expense accruals to various liability accounts.  An excel spreadsheet will be prepared to properly document the activity in these balance sheet accounts.  The related expense account will be analyzed.  The intern will interact with various country/regional finance personnel and any other department that may be impacting the activity in the account(s). The anticipated outcome of this project(s) will be that the liability and related expense will be properly stated in the financial statements of the company.   Status reports will be generated periodically to explain the unresolved issues in progress and the balances which have been resolved.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum GPA - 3.2

Bachelors Degree Candidate Major – Accounting, Finance or Business Major  

Extracurricular activities Volunteer work etc

Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills Required

Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Candidate must have a strong desire to learn and must work well in a team environment. 

Must be able to Multi-task, accept constructive criticism, must be focused and reliable
