Job Description
SUMMARY
Provides supervision and assists Director with overall responsibility for department audit staff. This includes oversight supervision to staff covering a wide variety of audit, analytical and documentary skills while conducting audits and projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides leadership, supervision, guidance, professional development counseling and performance assessments (feedback) for less experienced staff members which include Senior Auditors, Internal Auditors, and Associate Auditors in performance of their essential duties.
• Participates or direct consulting projects involving winery departments and/or affiliated operating businesses to identify opportunities to improve existing processes.
• Works independently with key customers on audits, process improvement projects and internal and business control projects at all levels of winery management.
• Directs subordinates in research projects, formulates audit plans, test procedures, and supporting schedules.
• Participates in recruiting activities.
• Participates as a member of the Audit Services management team in the oversight of department policy, goals and procedures.
• Provides direct supervision and oversight to maintain the departments ability to provide qualifying audit experiences to meet state licensure requirements.
• Manage direct reports and supervise multiple engagements (multi-tasking).
• Implements a successful vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills.
• Develops or approves recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures; ensures timely and accurate implementation.
• Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
• May develops and maintains operating budget and capital spending plan.
• Plans manpower requirements.
• Identifies and obtains staff capabilities needed to accomplish objectives.
• Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff.
• Oversees and handles projects that have short to long term focus.
• Balances planning efforts with day to day demands.
• Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops, coaches and mentors subordinate staff.
• Conducts performance evaluations; recommends salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or acceptable equivalent from four-year college or university, plus 8 or more years of internal audit, public accounting or other acceptable business experience, MBA/Master's degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Professional certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CISA, CIA, CFE, and/or CMA. Additionally, professional license(s) recognized by the California Board of Accountancy, to support the Audit Services department's CPA licensure program is strongly encouraged.
Skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Computer skills requirements include: Basic MS Access; intermediate MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint; ability to type 35-40 wpm.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to work with all levels and functions within the Company.
• Ability to works effectively individually or in a team environment and lead by example.
• Ability to lead the resolution of business issues is a team environment.
• Must possess strong executive presence.
• Ability to create project work plans.
• Ability to work on projects that have strategic impact and improve the process efficiency of the company.

• Must be proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and flow charting tools and techniques.
• Must possess effective organizational and administrative skills.
• Knows and applies facilitation skills and techniques.
• Ability to simultaneously work on and complete multiple assignments on a timely basis.
• Must possess strong analytical, problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills.
• Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and controlling.
• Must possess technical research skills.
• Knows internal controls, audit/project procedures, documentation standards and risk assessments.
• Ability to travel 35 percent annually.
• Ability to complete assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
